They start climbimg season for Mt.Fuji on July 1st and you can keep climbing Mt.Fuji until the end of August.
Generally, people in the mountain huts say that they are closing their stores around 23rd or 25th in Aug because it starts snowing.
So Mt.Fuji is actually open only in summer time for less than 2 months.
In winter time, all of routes are closed at the 2nd stations. so please DO NOT clime Mt.Fuji.
It will be dangerous if you climb Mt.Fuji after they closed or before they open because it is too cold and there is no people to help you.
If you go missing, you will have no food and eventually, you will be frozen to death.
Mt.Fuji is not a ski resort. In winter time, it is just really stormy, snowy, freezing climate there. The temperature will be about minus 20 celcius, minus 4 Farenheit.
Yet some people still challenge and end up to lose their lives every year and we do not want to hear such a bad news any more.
Just be smart and protect yourself and your loved ones.
Exceptions for climbing Mt.Fuji in winter time;
If you really need to climb Mt.Fuji in winter for some special reason, you need to fill out the application form published by Fuji City. When the government authority admit it, you may be allowed to climb Mt.Fuji out of the season.
Climb slowly making sure if you do not have a headache.
If you get tired, just stop climbing and have a rest. basically headache will be gone if you sit down and rest for a while.
You will be able to continue climbing in 20 minites or so again.
But if you do not feel better at all or seriously feel like to throw up, you should b meetter stop climbing and go down.
Don't worry! You can try some other time again!!
It's not a big deal...
As I showed in Mt.Fuji gallery, there are plenty of little pretty flowers, red or black rocks.
But unfortunatelly, you can not take pick those flowers or weeds to protect Mt.Fuji nature. Also you can not take those rocks home to keep the shape of Mt.Fuji.
You might feel like to bring some of them home for good Mt.Fujimory, I understand, but do not do that, please:)
There is no garbage box at Mt.Fuji. There is no garbage on the ground, either
You have to take all garbage home. So if you eat and drink too much, it will be hard to go down carrying garbage.
We did not think about garbage when we climbed, and finally, we got three big barbage bags to carry down. It was a really big labor.
Do not forg meet bringing big garbage bags.
Not only for garbage, but also for your wet clothes and so on.
Garbage bags will help you a lot.
It is really hot out there in Japan, but at Mt. Fuji, it is still spring or winter because it is high.
Many bees are flying in this season. Please be careful.
Sometimes they fly following people for manyters, so wear your hat, cover your neck or arms with towels not to touch bees directly.
They are natural creatures and just trying to find some pollen.
They do not intend to stick their needles to you.
So you should not try to attack those bees for no reason. If you surprise them, you might be attacked.
I heard bees love yellow stuffs, including orange and green, so maybe you should not wear clothes in those color.
It is very bad if you are stung. bring antihistaminic steroid ointment just for in case.
General treatment if you are stung by a bee is, pull the poisonous bee's needle out, push the poison out of your skin, wash with some water, and then put antihistaminic steroid ointment on it.
