How & When Mt.Fuji appeared??

Mt.Fuji is a volcano, it got such a beautiful form going through 3 big eruptive activities.

●　The first eructation occurred from several hundred thousand years to several millions years ago.

It made "Komitake volcano", at a height of 2400 meters, indicated in blue mountain on the right side.
Also some another eructation created "Ashitaka-Yama volcano", indicated in orange.

Human beings were still living as Cro-Magnon or Peking men at that time.

●　The second eructation occurred from several million years to 2 million years ago, which is "Ko-Fuji volcano", that means old-Fuji volcano.

This Ko-Fuji volcano was a mountain at a height of 2700 meters, indicated in green on the right side.
At that time, our earth was right on the ace age.
The muddy water and pyroclastic flows caused by Ko-Fuji (old Fuji) volcano are an impermeable layer, it became tasty natural spring water today.

●　The third eructation occurred about a million years ago, Shin-Fuji (New Fuji) volcano.

In Japan, it was the middle of Jomon Period.
This eructation made Mt.Fuji even higher, indecated in purple, at the height of 3776 meters, it got the shape of today.
The shape and color of Mt.Fuji is so beautiful and it is also quite rare in the world.
Therefore, today NPO and many people are actively enhancing the campaign trying to make Mt.Fuji one of world heritages.

Mt.Fuji is an active volcano standing on Pacific plate, North American Plate, Philippine Plate.
In modern science, Mt.Fuji is said to have much to do with earthquakes in Tokai area in Japan.

The last Mt.Fuji eructation was "Hoei volcano" in 1707, Edo era.
The degree of eructation was massive.
Ash from volcano flew to far away from Kanto area and accumulated in large areas.
Almost at the same time, there was a historical earthquake in Tokyo, called The Great Kanto Earthquake.
The widespread damages were large, it took forever to recover those towns and villages as before.

People have been believed in god lives in Mt.Fuji, they admire the mountain as sublime.
When Mt.Fuji exploded, everybody was so freaked and scared. They all believed that the eructation was anger of god.
That is why a shrine is built on the top of the mountain.
Eructation of Mt.Fuji was always such a threat in any time.

Yet, still Mt.Fuji keeps attracting people.
I wonder how many people are going to climb Mt.Fuji this year.
Of course, I am also the one who wants to try it again!

There are also many stories connected to Mt.Fuji.
Mt.Fuji, the mountain of fascination and beauty, has variety of feelings of many people in all eras.
Compared to the long, great history of Mt.Fuji, how small and short my life is!!
