I tried climbing Mt.Fuji in 2005 for the first time in my life.
I did not expect myself getting the high-altitude disease at all, so when I had a headache, I was so surprized.
You can buy oxygen/air bottles at mountain huts, but you can also buy oxygen tablets, which is more powerful, at climbing gear stores.
As for, I believe that I got the high-altitude disease because I went to the 5th station by a car so quickly.
If I walked there step by step, I would not have such a headache, I guess. My body could resist the big change of air pressure.
Did you know the 5th station is already 2,400M (=7,500 feet ) higher than the ground?
We often see pictures of Mt.Fuji covered with snow on the top, right?
We actually climb only the little part that is covered with snow!
If you feel a headache, just sit there and have a rest. Usually most of people can get recovered in 20 min.
Many strangers will cheer you up at Mt.Fuji.
This is how most people gre meet each other while their climbing the mountain and that is really nice.
So just say hi to them and try to cheer up each other!
Those gre meetings will give you some energy and help you a lot.
Almost half of climbers were not Japanese, it was funny.
Probably they were from America, Asia, Europe, Oceania..... everywhere!!
I heard many languages from all over the world and that made happy:)
Mt.Fuji is known to everybody, that is a great thing!!
Also, lots of children like 5-year-old or eldery people like 70-year-old were enjoying climbing Mt.Fuji on their own pace, relaxing!
So you will be able to make it, too!!!
I challenged Mt.Fuji with my American husbund and parents, all of them made the top!!
The top was huge! It was really surprizing and weird.....
I did not have so much mustle pain and went to work in Tokyo the very next day normally.
My parents and husband had a lot in everywhere, though...
Have fun at Mt.Fuji!!!
It will be one of the greatestmories in your life.
We will see at Mt.Fuji or some other mountains in the world.
See you then/""
