I Climbed Mt.Fuji! Mt.Fuji, Climbimg Gear

Mt.Fuji, Climbing Gear
item name purpose
shoes for climbing / trekking / hiking / aerobics / running / tennis climbing or trekking shoes are the best to avoid small rocks and sands are coming into your shoes. Also those shoes are good to protect your ankles. But you might have blisters on your feet if you wear brand new shoes . If your feet get hurt, you will not be able to climb no more, so I dare recommend you to wear the easiest, daily shoes for you.
I actually climbed wearing my ordinary tennis shoes.
At the bottom should be nonsmooth so you will not slip and fall. Be careful so as not to sprain your ankles.
When the sudden rain and thunder starts, please wear the rain coats immediately and cover your shoes. Your shoes should not get wet. The more you climb, the more it gets colder.
backpack / pack sack climbing day pack is the best, but you can still climb with your ordinal backpack. chose the one that fit your body, steady one. B meetter if not g meet shaken when you move around.
If you have many pockets, you can put snacks or a bottle of water and have them easily.
hat To avoid the sunshine and rain.
sun glasses Near the top of Mt.Fuji, you can feel more sunlight and UV. Especially early in the morning, it is so bright.
head light In case you continue climbing at night in the darkness.
oxygen tabl meet / oxygen bottle / air bottle If you forget to bring, you can still get a air bottle at stores on Mt. Fuji. 1,000 yen per each, for 50 times breathing. At the mountain huts or stores, you can get some Mt. Fuji T-shirts ( 1,500 yen ) or many other suveniors, too. But you should get them when you go home.
I thought oxygen tablets are more powerful than air bottles, so if you need tablets, please get them at a climbing shop in advance. At Mt.Fuji, they have only air bottles.
walking / climbing sticks walking sticks are enough useful. But if you do not have any, it will be so hard, your feet might get excess strain.
rain coat ( both jack meet and pants ) You will need one because you will have to walk in the rainy thunder clouds. It also protect you from coldness. If your clothes or shoes get wet you will feel like frozen, so you should wear both jack meet and pants and cover your body all over.
towels To wipe rain or sweat on your body. Also, when bees show up, it will be useful to cover your body.
a toil meet roll Usually they have, but just for in case.
winter hat, gloves, sweater, etc You can not imagine you need some winter clothes in the hotness in Japan, but on the top of the mountain, it is very cold like 5-6 degrees celsius ( = 41-43 degrees Fahrenheit ) even in summer.
a couple of T-shirts At the 5th or 6th station, it is still very hot, so you will start sweating. If you have a couple of shirts, you can change it. Also, if you are planning to stay at a mountain hut, inside it will be very hot when you sleep. You can also g meet amorial Mt.Fuji T-shirt at a mountain hut ( per 1,500 yen ).
a couple of pairs of sox When you g meet soil or rain on it, you can change.
very big trash bags / supermark meet bags You can put all of garvages in it when you go home. Also, it is useful to put wet dirty clothes.
medicine, band aid, cold-pack, antihistaminic steroid ointment, and so on You might need it actually. Before you see the doctor, you should get some emergency treatment.
your favotrite snacks, bread, etc You will be so happy if you can have your favorite food in Mt.Fuji. It will be a great refreshment. You will be very hungry when you climb Mt.Fuji.
cash ( yen ) In Mt.Fuji, basically you can not use your credit cards. Cash only. Of course there is no ATM, either. So bring some cash with you. Lately at some mountain huts, you can use cards. But it is not certain.
shuttle bus (about 3,000 yen per each for around trip ), water and juice at the vending machines on your way to the top will be expensive, food at the mountain hut or the top of the Mt.Fuji will be 1,000 yen, the mountain hut fee will be 5,000 yen for each, suveniors...
So basically the cash you need at Mt.Fuji will be from 15,000 to 20,000. If you need to buy more suveniors, better if you bring more.
Furthermore, train fee to get to Mt. Fuji and go back home. If you come by a car, you need gas or express way fee, too, though you usually can pay them with your credit cards.

You can buy lots of water at the mountain huts or vending machines. No necessary to carry heavy water.
It is a bit expensive, though, you should not get tired before you start climbing Mt.Fuji. Do not bring anything heavy as possible as you can.
I heard that there are plenty of water at Mt.Fuji, but I worried that they might be sold out! and I carried a big 1.5L pet bottle. As a result, I got so tired before I start climbing...
You can get coffee cans, too.
I carried 3 coffee cans and got so tired. I really regreted it:)
